About The Role MetroPlains Management is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated
Property Accountant to join our Operations team. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting for our portfolio of properties. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including tenant and vendor transactions, monthly reconciliations, financial reporting, and special projects—all while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities - Track tenant activity and communicate with property managers
- Post monthly rent rolls and vacancies; apply miscellaneous tenant charges
- Process and record payments and receipts for designated properties
- Generate receivable reports and late rent notices as needed
- Manage vendor inquiries, process invoices, and issue payments
- Reconcile and manage all cash accounts; establish new bank accounts as needed
- Prepare and distribute timely internal and external financial reports.
- Support financial audits, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting
- Assist in annual budget preparation and forecasting
- Accurately post and analyze general ledger transactions
- Maintain software data integrity and support ongoing software proficiency
- Perform administrative accounting functions and prepare professional correspondence
- Manage priorities and deadlines independently with minimal supervision
- Maintain professional and effective communication with team members, vendors, and residents

Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in accounting or finance preferred
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi preferred), MS Excel, Word, Outlook
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-starter with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Work Environment & Physical Requirements - Standard office environment with regular use of computers, printers, and other office equipment
- Minimal noise level
- Occasionally required to lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and use of technology for communication and documentation
